Once upon a time, a transplanted Swedish businessman, longing for a taste of the old country, decided Worcester needed a quality bakery in the Scandinavian tradition.
That was over 40 years ago. His vision of a bakery is still viable and The Crown Bakery & Cafe, with its decidedly sophisticated menu of European bakery products, is still serving the Worcester community.
A good reason for its success is its people. Ake Lundstrom who, with his crew of bakers recruited from Sweden, set the guidelines many years ago for the maintenance of quality and creative application of the bakers trade. Today, his son Jon, the present owner, continues the tradition and has broadened the scope of the bakery to include delicious soups and sandwiches.
Principally Swedish, The Crown Bakery & Cafe, does not limit itself to the Scandinavian tradition. You will find many choices from Irish breads to Greek Baklava...
